“What does a rusty truck in a dusty scene abandoned and alone mean to me to driver the spiritual principle home? What does this mean? In the dust and the heat where the engines stall, that old truck is waiting for its final call. We gotta bring em back, bring em up and always pray, the mechanic may repair it, but not if time stands in the way.”

This classic truck used to be a beauty. She turned heads everywhere she went. She was valuable, useful. She went places, did things, carried people to and fro. But then one day she sat too long. She stopped moving. She sat idle. And not just in a nice garage - but in a hostile and inhospitable world. Now she is ruined. Broken. Abandoned. Rusting away. But there’s hope: The mechanic is able to repair her. To restore her. To get her running again. He can fix the engine, change the tires, apply the patching and the paint. He can do it. But not if time stands in the way. …. In the same way those who are added to the church are beautiful, productive. We are not idle. We go places, do things. But if we sit idle, and not about the work of the Lord, we can suffer the same fate. Let’s remember this important parable, as to not be slothful, but dilligently believing in Jesus Christ.
